Nasty Cat

Written by Alexa Rayburn

"Serena DeWitt had enjoyed every minute of her 5th birthday party, but she had already moved on to bigger and better things.  Serena decided she wanted a cat.   But no cat was right for Serena.  There were long-haired cats, short-haired cats, grey and white cats, and all black cats.  There were cats with leopard spots and tiger stripes, and young cats and old cats.  But no cat was right for Serena.

Then, at a small pet store downtown that advertised "Exotic Pets", a tall cage held a mother cat and four kittens.  One kitten was a round ball of spiky dark fur, and it stared straight at Serena, as if daring her to pick it up.   Serena had found her cat."

What child hasn't wanted a pet, then changed her mind when the pet is not what they thought it would be?  In this child's tale of hopes, dreams and disappointments, one child's quest for the perfect pet leads to a hilarious story of getting much more cat than you bargained for.   Join Serena and her mother as they confront the reality of of the cat's behavior.  Travel with them to our nation's capitol as they "Always Adventure Together!"
